Due to a shortage of veterinary professionals and support staff, we are not able to fulfill appointments for the foreseeable future.
We remain open for food and medication pick up Monday - Thursday 9am - 6pm.
If your pet requires veterinary care please contact Elmvale Veterinary Hospital or use our telemedicine service Smart.Vet. We are working hard to hire additional staff so we can reopen for appointments.
We apologize for the disruption and appreciate your understanding.
Modern diagnostic tools that show your pet's internal organs and system which helps with diagnosis.
Orillia Pet Hospital is proud to offer various forms of diagnostics to our beloved patients. When a physical examination is not enough to diagnose your cat or dog, our team relies on ultrasonography and radiology (X-ray) scans. By providing these services in-house, we are able to provide more accurate and quicker diagnosis and provide prompt treatment. To learn more about our diagnostic services, please call 705-325-4224.
Ultrasound technology allows us to view your pet internally in real-time by using the echoes of sound waves. These echoes create a 3D image of the targeted area of their body. Ultrasound is used to detect tumours, cyst, fetal development, bladder stones and foreign objects. We may recommend ultrasound if your cat or dog has difficulty breathing, diarrhea or blood in their urine.
We offer this service via a traveling veterinary ultrasound technician by appointment only.
X-ray technology allows us to examine your cat or dog internally to detect fractures, foreign bodies, and other conditions. With our digital dental X-ray technology, we can view below their gum line to detect gum disease and other oral problems. X-rays can diagnose pneumonia, cancer, arthritis and monitor heart disease. In some cases, an X-ray exam can be combined with an ultrasound exam for the most accurate diagnosis.
These tools are safe for your loyal companion. Although X-rays use some radiation, digital X-rays are much quicker which means even less radiation is used. During either service, we will do everything possible to make your canine and feline companions comfortable and safe.
